Presbyter / Priest
The Rev. John Laffoon
John is the Rector (Pastor) at Grace by the Sea. He grew up in Kentucky and majored in Education and Biblical Studies at Kentucky Christian University. Shortly after graduation he moved to California to serve as a youth minister from 2005-2008. He then moved to Chile to serve in international youth ministry from 2008-2012. In Chile, he eventually sensed the Lord leading him to return to the US for further studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He earned his Master of Divinity and Master of Theology in Historical Theology from 2013-2016. During that time he was also introduced to the Anglican tradition of following Jesus, which led to him accepting the youth and family minister position at Christ Church Anglican in Phoenix, AZ. He served there for seven years. In August of 2024, with much joy, he began serving as the rector of Grace by the Sea in beautiful Oak Harbor.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, Jared experienced a profound renewal of faith through a Messianic Jewish congregation, deepening his understanding of Jesus as the Messiah. Jared met his wife, Sarah, in 2003, and they were married in Jerusalem the following year. Together, they have raised three sons while navigating various Christian traditions, from Messianic Judaism to non-denominational Evangelicalism, and ultimately to the Anglican Church in North America.
